Hi all
This is my first post on this really interesting Forum
10 months into my bodybuilding training (I also trained for just under 2 years, but that was ages ago when I was eighteen years old), I wish to consider a creatine monohydrate supplement to help my progress (not dieting so I can afford to take the sugars necessary for its absorption)... my basic question is with what should I drink it to provide the required insulin spike?
Or am I better off buying a ready-made supplement containing the necessary delivery sugars, etc? Something like Gaspari SizeOn (though not Monohydrate I think) and Maximuscle Creatamax Extreme (not sure where to get Maximuscle products in Malta - Stefan of Msida doesn't seem to stock Maximuscle). Any experiences with such products?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers |

welcome!
dextrose and malto-dextrine will provide what your looking for (i`m assuming your taking it post workout)
there is also regular sugar like white table sugar.. but i`d use that only if you dont have the above two or arent really interesting in buying them. Table sugar will do the job.. though not as efficiently as the above 2
reason: table sugar consists of glucose and fructose.(no you cannot seperate them) and fructose isnt so great when it comes to replacing muscle glycogen. as far as i know its good at replacing liver glycogen. Above 2 are solely glucose (or whatever there is in maltodextrine)
so like i said. table sugar will do and is better then nothing but dextrose/malto..... is better and the prices of all 3 are more or less the same (afaik)
ready made supps will have lots of extra stuff added perhaps some aminos, flavour bla bla bla. they made be good but its usually more expensive when you buy it ready made. Aswell it might not say exactly how much of the substance is in X grams due to the proprietary blend crap which bascially means they dotn have to say what and how much is in it. _________________ "Stimulate not annihilate the muscle."

Thanks a lot for the prompt and very informative replies!
Since it seems basic Monohydrate is well researched, tried and tested and the supplements industry is full of marketing traps, I'd be inclined to go for the self-made Creapure+Maltodextrine mixture. On the other hand for my first time, I don't want to be pretentious and maybe get the mixtures wrong if I can spend a bit more and get it right for sure. I don't like the Properietary Blend BS though!
Read some reviews about BSN Cell Mass - some say it's really fantastic, other says it's crap and makes you fat :-/
Had never heard about Kre-alkalyn but from what I found it looks very interesting (no degeneration into Creatinine) but being so unique and "revolutionary", I hope it's not another marketing gimmick!
Thanks again for your comments! |

your supposed to take a certain amount of carbs for each gram of creatine but you will see a difference no doubt. so research a bit on the ratios, i`m not so sure about them. Its not a big deal to sort out the mixture as long as you have a weighing scale that reads single digits. Sort out how much creatine you`ll need, check the ratio, add the carbs. using the weighing scale along the way
dont be afraid of proprietary blend, just watch out.
i wouldnt bother with anything other than mono, the rest is all fancy science with as much reports to say they are BS as there are to say its good. the only difference is company will make more $$$ on the fancy crap.
having said that, its always best to try them out and make up your decision.. who knows?... you might wake up to find you grew a whole new set of biceps on your forehead
all the research in the world means sh*t if its continuously working better then the basic one
there is still a lot of skepticism regarding the fancy creatines.. _________________ "Stimulate not annihilate the muscle."

Hi,
Me and another guy used it in the final weeks pre-contest and I can assure you that it doesn't make you fat! I don't know how 7grams of carbs per serving can make you fat even if it was pure sugar! |

Given Admin's exeperience I am inclined to give Cell Mass a try. Most online reviews I read were absolutely fantastic and only a very small proportion said it's not good - no half-ways.
From what I saw, Cell Mass is based on CEE rather than Monohydrate. Originally I was more interested in trying out old fashioned Monohydrate first before moving on to CEE.
(The most interesting ready-mixed Monohydrate-based creatine I found online is Maximuscle Creatamax Extreme but I'm not sure who stocks Maximuscle products in Malta.)
Thanks again to titanium and Admin for the feedback. |

ask them, usually they can give you the name of the shop if there is a local agent.. however just because they dont know/dont have one doesnt mean there isnt a shop that stocks them. _________________ "Stimulate not annihilate the muscle."
